Pentropic Division (1960-64)
Pentropic was Australia's version of the American Pentomic division, designed to fight in nuclear conditions and the tropics. There were two Pentropic divisions, the 1st Division (part regular and part CMF) and the 3rd Division (fully CMF). The following is a generalized and theoretical establishment from 1960 not specific to a single division, with theoretical strengths listed.

1st SAS CO. was part of the Division. "Major Eyles strongly opposed the suggestion for fear the SAS Company would lose its identity. On 14 November 1960, the Deputy Chief of the General Staff – Major General Murdock, approved the designation of the unit as '1st SAS Company Royal Australian Regiment'. At the same time, the Company became part of the Combat Support Group of the 1st Pentropic Division".
