Task Force 1-28 Infantry: The Last Permanent Light Infantry "Task Force"

Task Force 1-28 Infantry was a light infantry battalion task force from 2015 to 2020 under the 3rd Infantry Division. When it existed 1-28 IN was the only “organic” light infantry task force in the army. In this case, they use task force to refer to a reinforcement to the typical battalion structure and not a task organized unit, because the add-ons were organic to its MTOE and they shared the same regimental affiliation.
