In the late 2000s, the U.S. Army had like 10 unique Reconnaissance and Scout Platoon designs in maneuver brigade combat teams (IBCT/SBCT/HBCT) and higher-level recon & surveillance formations (the Armored Cavalry Regiment and Battlefield Surveillance Brigades). Here I cover all of them, from infantry battalion scouts to ACRs, NBC Recon and long-range surveillance companies. I do not cover recon formations under the 75th Ranger Regiment, and I have done a very in-depth video on helicopter-based recon and drone-based surveillance units.
